Senior engineering teams · Since 2010

Your team can generate code faster than it can trust it.

DevBatch is an AI-augmented engineering agency working for VP Engineering teams at US Series B+ AI/SaaS companies and for hospital groups modernizing the patient surface. Senior engineers inside your stack — and the evidence that what shipped is what you approved.

The shift

The expensive part of software stopped being the building.

For fifty years the costly thing was writing the code, and every agency on earth was priced around that. That cost has collapsed — but what got cheap is generating a plausible draft, not delivering a correct system.

So the work moved to the two ends generation cannot reach: deciding, precisely enough that a machine can act on it, what to build — and proving, rigorously enough that you can rely on it, that what got built is right. We stopped selling the middle.

The new shape puts it on deciding what to build and proving that what got built is right.OLD SHAPE · fat middledecideBUILD (the mass of the work)checkNEW SHAPE · fat endsDECIDEspecify what to buildgenerate (cheap, commoditised)PROVEverify it is right

How we prove it

Anyone can generate the code now. We hand you the evidence it's right.

Generation got cheap; verification didn't. That is the whole reason to hire a firm rather than more tool seats — and it is what our engineers bring that a marketplace contractor does not.

01

Verified against your spec, not against the code

Generated code is a confident first draft from a machine that is wrong on a regular basis and never sounds it. We check it against what you agreed, because the code cannot be its own answer key.

02

Done means conformance, not green tests

Passing tests prove the code does what its tests say. We put the delivered thing beside the approved thing and close every difference. While a gap is open, the status is in progress.

03

Nobody signs off on what they built

One engineer can build one thing and verify a different thing — but never their own. An independent panel is prompted to find fault, not to approve, before anything reaches a human gate.

How an engagement starts

Discovery. Match. Ship.

01

Discovery (1 call)

30-minute call to understand the role, the stack, the team shape, and the deadline. We tell you on the call whether we're the right fit.

02

Match (5 business days)

2-3 vetted senior candidates from the bench, with sample work and reference availability. You interview directly, no re-vetting.

03

Ship

Selected engineers onboard inside your team, on your tools, your standards. On our fastest engagement the first commit landed on day 11; two to three weeks is the honest planning number.

Founder note

One owner. Reachable.

I'm Waqas Khan Pitafi. I founded DevBatch in 2010 and I have been its only owner since. When you sign with DevBatch you sign with the person who picks up the phone — and the person who wrote The Verification Advantage , the book this practice came out of.

FAQ

The questions VPs and CIOs actually ask.

How fast can you staff a senior engineering pod?
On our fastest engagement — a 6-person React pod for a California SaaS platform — the first commit landed on day 11. That is one engagement, not an average, and we would rather give you the real one than a blended number. Plan for a vetted shortlist inside a week and 2–3 weeks from discovery call to an engineer in your standup.
You ship with AI tooling. How do I know the code is right?
Because we don't ask you to take our word for it. Work is verified against the spec you agreed rather than against the code that produced it, nobody signs off on the piece they built themselves, and we hand over a conformance register showing what was approved against what was delivered. See the method page for the gates in order — including the ones we tell you we didn't run.
Are you HIPAA-aware? Do you sign BAAs?
Yes on both. Our healthcare engagements operate under PHI-handling protocols. We sign BAAs as standard for US healthcare engagements.
What's your pricing model?
Three shapes. Monthly senior capacity on time-and-materials plus a retainer, $25k–$100k+/mo. A defined build at a fixed cost against the deliverable plus annual maintenance, typically $300k–$500k+/yr. And, where an outcome can actually be measured, a fixed fee plus a capped component tied to one agreed metric. The pricing page has the ranges and the reasoning.
Do you take Magento engagements?
No. We took Magento work between 2020-2023 and lost money on the unit. We do take Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, and headless commerce work.
Where are your engineers based?
Distributed across regions selected for time-zone overlap with US business hours. Specific locations covered under NDA in the discovery call. We don't reveal the bench geography on the open web.
How do contracts and IP transfer work?
You contract with DevBatch LLC. Standard W-9, NDA, DPA, and IP transfer terms on commit. Procurement boxes get checked on the first call.

Talk to a partner who's been doing this since 2010.

30 minutes. No deck. We'll tell you whether we're the right fit before the call ends.
